OCIC Human Rights-Based Approach Workshop, in Partnership with Equitas

The goal of this workshop is to enable civil society organizations to improve the effectiveness and impact of your development initiatives by implementing a human rights-based approach (HRBA).

Workshop topics include:

  • What are human rights?

  • Human rights standards and instruments

  • Why it is important to address human rights in our development work

  • Identifying human rights issues

  • Elements of a human rights-based approach

  • Applying a human rights-based approach

  • Opportunities and Challenges 

  • Developing your action plan

By the end of the workshop participants should be able to better integrate the elements of HRBA into your organizations' projects and programs, and to share knowledge with peers and partners on how to integrate HRBA in their work.

 

When: October 5 - 6, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Where: Centre for Social Innovation*, 192 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON 

Registration: Registration fees cover the costs of all materials, fair trade breaks and vegetarian lunches. Registration fees are based on a principle of equity, and are intended to reduce barriers to participation to smaller OCIC member organizations. 

Partial Travel Subsidies are available for smaller OCIC member organizations in good standing, to support economy class travel. Please contact Lisa at admin@ocic.on.ca to apply.  

*This venue is wheelchair accessible, and LGBTQ Positive. Please provide details on any physical or dietary accommodations you may require, when you register.
