Event description
This course is designed for novice and intermediate level paddlers who are looking to expand their paddling skills, knowledge and safety.

About this event

This extensive course covers the following skills in both the bow and stern positions: Launching and removing canoes; entering and exiting canoes; paddling positions, balancing and trimming; changing positions; pivots; sideways displacement; forward and reverse straight line; inside and outside turns, circles and landings; stopping; lifts and carries. As well, a number of Safety and Theory topics are covered.

COVID-19 protocols in effect. If provincial or regional governments, the local health unit, the venue operator, ORCKA or our insurer mandate closure, the course will be canceled and full refunds will be made.

If you are looking to hone your paddling skills or canoe tripping skills, consider joining us for a course!

It All Comes Naturally offers ORCKA-certified canoeing courses. ORCKA, (Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association), is the gold standard for recreational and tripping certification in Ontario. IACN courses include:

  • Introduction to Safe Canoeing
  • Basic Canoeing Level 1 (tandem)
  • Basic Canoeing Level 2 (tandem)
  • Basic Canoeing Level 3 (tandem)
  • Basic Canoeing Level 4 (solo)
  • Introduction to Canoe Tripping
  • Canoe Tripping Level 1

We operate primarily out of Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area between Paris and Ayr, but can travel to your local lake, conservation area, camp, etc.

Clients have included Fanshawe College Adventure Expeditions and Interpretive Leadership program participants, GRCA staff, DFO staff, Six Nations of the Grand, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, St. Alban's Boys and Girls Club, YMCA staff, Sparrow Lake Camp staff and campers, Girl Guides, Scouts, and - of course - the general public.

 ** NOTE: The minimum number of paddlers for each course is 3. Courses may be canceled in the case of severe weather, etc. Full refunds will be made if It All Comes Naturally cancels a course, or you can join one of the other scheduled courses.

COVID-19 Response: Our Safety Plan has been approved by the Brant County Health Unit, ORCKA and their insurance carrier and the GRCA. We follow all directives from provincial and regional governments and all relevant organizations. We are working hard to make sure clients, instructors and GRCA staff remain safe through compliance to approved COVID-19 protocols. If courses are canceled due to COVID-19, a full refund will be provided.
