Join us for a fun-filled extended weekend in fall in the heart of the Canadian Rockies and let us help you take your landscape photography skills to the next level! You'll get a chance to work closely with each of us as we tackle a variety of topics in the field and classroom aimed at expanding your technical photo skills and your creative vision.
Banff National Park
At 6640 km2, Banff National Park is Canada’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Besides being a mecca for photographers, Banff offers opportunities for other activities, such as hiking, biking, and canoeing. Local yoga studios and spas give you the chance to unwind, and a variety of art galleries and museums help you tap into the local history and culture. If you have the opportunity to extend your stay in the park, we highly recommend you take advantage of everything it has to offer.

What to expect
The workshop is suitable for participants of all levels of experience in photography. Most locations will be readily accessible from the road, although we may hike short distances on occasion.
This event focuses 100% on landscape + outdoor photography and will include a nighttime component. It is worth noting that the workshop will be quite intense in order to maximize filed time. Participants are not expected to participate in every aspect of the workshop weekend. It’s up to you to get out as much as you like, though of course it is recommended you give it your all.
Accommodation and Meals
Your home for the duration of the workshop is the Baker Creek Mountain Resort, featuring delightful chalets located in the heart of Banff National Park. All meals (which are included in your fee) will be had at the resort’s fabulous bistro, other than one packed lunch that will allow us to maximize our time in the field. We will have the Resort’s Heritage Centre at our disposal for editing and presentation purposes.
What to Bring
As the tour is in October, there is the possibility of some very cool temperatures in the Rockies, especially at nighttime when we will be shooting.
• suitable and comfortable clothing, which you can layer
• warm jacket
• bathing suit (for hot tub at the hotel)
• waterproof jacket and pants
• hiking boots (we will be in wet and rocky areas)
• warm hat
• a headlamp or flashlight
• gloves (try to find gloves that still allow you to operate your camera)
• your own camera equipment (preferably DSLR, which allows manual control of shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings; bring the fastest lens you have)
• a sturdy tripod
• a cable (or wireless) shutter release
• a laptop for editing (with editing software, preferably Adobe)

The price of the workshop does not include transportation. Participants will need to arrange car rentals or carpooling with other workshop participants.

LEAVE NO TRACE
Both Dave and Paul preach and live the ethics of "leave no trace" photography, which means that the utmost care is given, while hiking and photographing, to leaving zero impact on the natural environment. Participants are expected to approach this tour with the same ethics at all times.
Spots are non-refundable but are transferrable (i.e. if the participant is able to find someone else to take their spot and can sell/transfer the spot to a new participant, this is acceptable). We cannot offer refunds or credits.
Although extremely unlikely, OFFBEAT Photography Inc. reserve the right to cancel the workshop at any time for a variety of reasons (i.e. if a minimum number of participants is not met or if unforeseen circumstances dramatically impacted the cost of the tour or global conditions somehow warranted a cancellation). In the very unlikely event of a cancellation, all monies/deposits made will be refunded to participants, however, no compensation would be made for participant flight cancellation fees.
We encourage participants travelling from outside Alberta to have trip cancellation insurance, including medical/illness insurance.
It is the participant's responsibility to ensure they have a valid Travel Visa (if applicable/required) for the duration of the workshop.
