Event Details

August 6 and Agust 13, 11am and 1pm

For our youngest audiences, we are presenting a special treat performed by Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre, The Wind in the Willows. This show is based on Kenneth Grahame’s classic story that inspires children to read, write, value friendship, love nature, and explore the world around them.

Join shy Mole, Rat who loves the river, Badger who doesn’t go out much, and Toad whose boisterous adventures can have dangerous consequences, as they stand up to bullies, rescue a baby otter, and learn how to listen to what the wind whispers in the willows.

Following the performance there will be an interactive talk-back where children can let their questions run freely to the artists.

Odyssey Theatre

A Theatre Like No Other!

Odyssey Theatre is renowned for signature masked performances that draw inspiration from Italian Commedia dell'Arte and a range of fairground theatrical arts. This approach lets us conjure imaginative worlds and tell powerful stories that engage wide audiences in a celebration of the human spirit. We create original work and bold adaptations of classics from the international repertoire that revel in social satire and journey into the world of myth and folklore. Through collaboration with artists from diverse theatrical and cultural traditions, we forge new directions in our creative work. The theatre is committed to supporting artists in our field and passionate about nurturing young artists.

We are:

  • An award-winning theatre in our third decade;

  • Ottawa, Canada's premier professional summer theatre, presenting Theatre Under the Stars along the banks of the Rideau River in historic Strathcona Park;

  • A nexus for experimenting, creating, producing and training in physical forms of theatre including mask, Commedia dell'Arte, clown, bouffon, puppetry and dance-theatre;

  • Recognized with sustained operating support from the Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa arts agencies;

  • Recipients of 25 awards and nominations; and,

  • A non-profit, registered charity.
