Event description

Description

We are thrilled and honoured to be celebrating 30 years of serving Ottawa’s inner city street community alongside our many volunteers, donors, business partners, churches, clients, and long-time supporters.

For 30 years, OIM has distinguished itself as a significant outreach program in the downtown core, offering support to youth, adults, and seniors, including those with mental health issues, addictions, the socially isolated, sex workers, ex-offenders, the LGBTQ community and First Nations.

Providing emergency provisions, advocacy, referrals and strength-based programming, OIM works alongside the most vulnerable in our City. In addition to leading the Nation’s Capital in the number of Outreach Teams that walk the streets 7 days a week, OIM runs a weekly Drop-In, office advocacy and one-on-one assistance, as well as 'Innercity Arts,' a strength-based, cutting edge program for street-engaged youth and young adults.

We are privileged to be celebrating with an anticipated guest list of 300, enjoying an evening that includes:
  • Dinner
  • Live Auction
  • Keynote Speakers: Co-Founder & Former Exec Dir, Susan Brandt, and Exec Dir Ken MacLaren

Rev. Susan Brandt
Flying all the way in from Calgary is the co-founder & former Executive Director of OIM, Rev Susan Brandt. Susan will be sharing her fond memories of those early years when she helped to establish OIM as a significant service provider in the inner city, and formed the foundation of what has now become one of Ottawa’s leading social service agencies.

Rev. Ken MacLaren
Since 2003, OIM’s Executive Director, Ken MacLaren, has been at the helm, bringing hope to the marginalized in our City. Ken will be sharing OIM’s development over the past 15 years along with its current expansion plans, including its new resource centre, a newly-renovated heritage building located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. At just under 5,000 square feet, the new facility will provide OIM the space it needs to develop more innovative, strength-based programming to reach our most vulnerable in downtown Ottawa.
