INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2020
Okanagan 'First' Ladies Tea and Bannock Celebration
Share this day of recognition with fellow women applauded for their achievements and contributions to the care of water, land and healthy communities. Special Okanagan women of extraordinary accomplishments have been invited as honorees: join us in celebrating these first ladies and all our successes with a traditional Tea and Refreshments, featuring Indigenous and Traditional beverages, savouries and sweets, World Café Style.
The afternoon will open with:
- cultural activities including songs and dance
- Syilx and newcomer customs
- Games
- Communial Crafts
- and of course.. story telling!
- Guest speakers will be featured.
Special performance by Delphine Derickson & Heather Pawsey selected from the Opera, n’-ha-aitk “The LAKE”
Our event will close after lunch with the Syilx Water Ceremony and Declaration at the lakeshore.
