"No matter whose side you take, you’re wrong.”
Join us for Post Productions' first show, David Mamet's explosive Oleanna! A conversation between a male university professor and a female student about her grades quickly becomes the locus of rage, resentment, and abuse. Oleanna explores the ways in which two people can experience the same events from drastically different perspectives, how perception can shape reality, and how quickly and inevitably power corrodes and corrupts even the best-intentioned people.
Oleanna stars Fay Lynn as Carol and Michael Potter as John.
WHAT CRITICS SAY ABOUT OLEANNA
Time: "Fiercely funny and trenchantly topical . . . Outlandish and entirely plausible ... it had this audience member virtually leaping out of his chair".
The Boston Globe: "Oleanna is . . . a scorcher. The woods are burning, and all of us are being seared in the fire".
New York magazine: "Mamet's clenched fist to the gut -- and intellect . . . a vicious and timely riff on sexual harassment and political correctness".
The New York Times: "Oleanna is likely to provoke more arguments than any other play."
Village Voice: "The temptation to take sides in the sex, class, and culture wars that Mamet has mapped out is almost irreversible. . . . Oleanna is a tragedy built as a series of audience traps; the minute you get suckered into thinking it says one thing, you're likely to find it saying the opposite".
Note: Oleanna is an adults-only production, and SHO is a licensed venue -- so we encourage our audience to stay for drinks and discussion after the show!
