Event description
The BC Touring Council (BCTC) presents On the Road: A Touring Workshop for Aspiring Emerging Performing Artists

About this Event

Calling all emerging performers! Whether you’re a theatre performer, electronic producer, comedian, dance or psychedelic rock band we want to share with you the best tips & tricks for touring your shows in & around Canada in 2020!

Join us for informative, an interactive weekend of presentations & workshops where you’ll gain the skills to take your show on the road, ready for the summer festival season! We’ve curated a creative team of industry experts to help you plan, prepare & promote your way through the province whilst meeting a network of neat aspiring performing artists with the same ideas.

Ever wondered how to book a rural tour or negotiate your performance fee? Maybe you want to learn more about what’s in a press kit or how to use Facebook in regional towns? Whether you’re the new kid on the block, have been gigging a bit but looking for a leg up or maybe you're just wanting to explore new markets, ‘On the Road’ will help make your touring experience positive, profitable and productive!

Showcasing Sessions! If two days and industry knowledge and free lunch isn't enough bang for your buck participants may also have the opportunity to perform & receive feedback from our group of trainers. These 5-Minute Showcases are popular and offer the opportunity to enhance and refine your performance skills.

This is a 2-day workshop which runs from 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday 9th to Sunday 10th November, 2019.

BCTC's On the Road workshop offers a practical step-by-step of how to book and manage a tour, a lively Q&A session, presentations about marketing and social media, one-on-one meetings, and 5-minute showcases and feedback sessions. Registration is $57.75 (includes tax + $3.01 service charge = $60.76. Registration includes breakfast and lunch both days (see registration information below). Travel subsidies are available to those living outside of the Metro Vancouver area. On the Road sells out quickly, so register early! For more information visit our website at: http://bctouring.org/touring-training-initiative/workshops.

In a band, troupe, group or belong to an organization that wants to register more than one person to attend? If you are an organization/group/band, you pay one fee for all of those who would like to attend from your organization/group or band. If you are already a member, you all sign up free.

We do not require all individuals in an organization/band to pay, however each person attending must register (see additional registration for members and non-members).

Travel Subsidies

Travel subsidies are available to those living outside of the Metro Vancouver area. To read about how to qualify, subsidy amounts and other information, visit our website:

About Showcases & Feedback Sessions

As part of registration, we ask if you or your group/organization/band would like a chance to participate in a 5-Minute Showcase & Feedback Session. There are two sessions, one on the first day of the workshop and one on the second day. Space is limited. Sign up for your chance to participate!

5-Minute Showcases often featured at industry and Contact events are a great way to break to show presenters and promoters to sample your work. This unique opportunity allows you to showcase and receive constructive feedback from our group of experienced trainers. Five-minute showcases are no-tech/low tech affair. We encourage you to participate as this is an opportunity to learn, grow and enhance your showcasing skills. More information will be sent to you when we confirm your participation.
