Once Upon a Wine… is a causal, yet informative night of wine tasting, food pairing, and storytelling with sommelier Mackenzie Putici

Sip, taste, and socialize with good wine and good company in the gorgeous Hemingway Room at Work Nicer's Rail Yards Outpost in Calgary.

Every bottle of wine contains a story: an origin story of the grape, its name, the winemaker, and the terroir. The story is interpreted by the drinker and defined by the occasion.

Court of Masters Certified Sommelier and founder of New World Wine Tours, Mackenzie Putici has curated a selection of wine from around the world for this event in order to share their stories and his own stories of traveling to the regions from which they come.

He's partnered with Say Cheese to plate up an incredible spread of cheese and charcuterie.

Reviive, a local startup that creates games for couples, will be setting up a table at our event. They'll be showing off advanced copies of their new game, Uncover Me. Whether you're bringing a date, a partner, or a friend, Uncover Me will be a fun way to create some extra fun as you enjoy your wine pairings.

FAQ's

Should I have dinner before or after?

There will be a generous quantity of cheese and charcuterie equivalent to a mid-sized meal. You can definitely make dinner plans for after the event, but these won't be tiny samples.

Are there allergy options?

Gluten-free options are available. If contact is not a concern, some dairy-free and nut-free options will be in the spread.

How much wine is included?

You will begin with 3oz pours of each of the 5 wines- essentially 3 glasses. Some additional wine may be on offer while supplies last. Please make arrangements to get home safely.

How should I dress?

However you like! The sommelier will wear suit, because he just plane ol' likes to dress up. This event is meant to be accessible and fun, like having an amazing wine night in your living room. So just feel comfy and know that you are welcome.

Is there parking?

There is free parking at Work Nicer and a paid parking lot for overflow. Once again please be responsible and leave your car overnight, or use transit or taxi services after the event.
