Event Details

The Regional Cancer Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre is excited to present the 8th Central Regional Cancer Program Oncology Day for Primary Care Providers: Connecting the Dots in Cancer Care. This educational event is open to family physicians and nurse practitioners, internists, other specialists, nurses, and allied health professionals with an interest in the care of patients with a cancer diagnosis.


The goal of the program is to impart excellence in cancer care by modelling current and innovative oncology advances, using didactic and interactive learning experiences at an interdisciplinary event.




  1. To describe and integrate into practice the recent changes to screening guidelines for multiple cancer sites
  2. To identify and integrate into practice recent management strategies for common oncology treatment side effects
  3. To identify and integrate into practice an approach to an abnormal CBC as it pertains oncologic diagnoses
  4. To be able to describe and explain recent oncology treatment and diagnostic updates to patients
  5. To be able to efficiently interact with the local oncology community to foster better transitional patient care
