Event description
This two-afternoon modular course introduces several more advanced aspects of the ONIX standard and associated metadata.

About this Event

This two-afternoon modular course introduces several more advanced aspects of the ONIX standard and associated metadata.

It builds upon the knowledge of ONIX gained through the Essentials training course, and covers more advanced features of book metadata, identifiers, and ONIX for Books, including its use with ebooks and the latest features of ONIX 3.0. Exact course content is varied according to the interests of the attendees.

It mixes the detail of metadata theory and practice with real-world supply chain effectiveness in an experienced, pragmatic but authoritative way.

This course is suitable for those with a good background knowledge of publishing and some experience working with ONIX. It is aimed at staff with management responsibility for product metadata or software developers seeking more in-depth domain knowledge. Before joining this course, attendees should have attended the ONIX: Essentials course, or have gained extensive experience of metadata management over several years.

This training spans eight hours over two days:

  • Tuesday, March 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET/10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PT
  • Friday, March 26 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET/10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PT

You must be in Canada and have a Canadian mailing address to attend.

Graham Bell is Executive Director of EDItEUR, responsible for the overall development of EDItEUR’s standards and the management services it provides on behalf of other standards agencies (including the International ISNI agency and the International DOI Foundation).

He joined EDItEUR as its Chief Data Architect in 2010, focussed on the continuing development and application of ONIX for Books, and on other EDItEUR standards for both the book and serials sectors.
