Get behind the most important day for organic in Ontario this year! Ontario Organic Day is the best way for organic advocates to gain exclusive access to Ontario MPPs from your region who are concerned and want to engage with you about the organic sector. Join us and help promote the priorities of Ontario's organic businesses.

Ontario Organic Day Agenda:

Monday, October 1st, 2018

5:00 PM to 7:00 PM - Organic Drinks and Snacks (CSI Annex, 720 Bathurst st., Rm. #2, 2nd Floor)

Join us for free organic drinks and snacks and networking with brief words from our Chair.

7:30 PM - Dinner at Local Restaurant @ Her Father's Cider Bar

Please RSVP for reservation purposes. Dinner not included in Queen's Park ticket.

7:00 AM to 8:30 AM: Queen's Park Organic Breakfast (111 Wellesley Ave W. Rooms 228 & 230)

7:00 AM Ontario Organic Breakfast featuring

8:00 AM Address from Minister Hardeman (OMAFRA), Minister Jones (MTCS), and opposition MPPs.

8:30 AM Walk to Hart House

9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: OCO Member Orientation (Hart House, Music Room, Room 2006)

  • 9:00 AM Welcome and Introductions (Rob Wallbridge, Chair; Carolyn Young, Executive Director)
  • 9:40 AM Canadian Organic Growers' Transition to Organic Report (Carly Livingston, COG)
  • 10:20 AM Updates on COTA's State of Organics Report and Policy Updates (Tia Loftsgaard, COTA)
  • 10:50 AM Updates on Other Provincial Regulations (Becky Lipton, Organic Alberta; Emma Holmes, B.C. Ministry of Agriculture)
  • 11:30 AM MPP Meeting Preparation

12pm -12:45 PM Lunch (Lunch not included in ticket, Hart House Lunch available $5- $7 each)

12:45 PM Group photo in front of Queen's Park

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Meetings with MPPs (Main Legislative Building; 111 Wellesley Ave. W.)

Members and participants will be paired with their MPPs by region.

4:30 PM - 7:30 PM: Drinks and Debrief @ The Wickson Social (please RSVP)

Please enter through the south-west basement door. This is just to the left of the main entrance, and is the only door open before 8am.


Parking close to Hart House and Queen's Park is limited. Guests staying in the city overnight are encouraged to consider parking near their accomodations and taking public transportation or a taxi to the event.

Nearby options include:

U of T Parking Lots: view this map and filter to Parking Lots to see lots available on campus. Click on map markers for rates. Note: Parking in Hart House circle is extremely limited and will not likely be available throughout the day.

Green P Parking: the nearest Green P lot is a 15-minutes walk from Hart House and Queen's Park. Some municipal street parking is avaialable in the area as well.

Women's College Hospital: is a 15-minute walk from Hart House. There is a lot beneath the hospital building.

Impark: a private parking company with several lots within walking distance of Queen's Park and Hart House. These parking options are typically more expensive than public (Green P) parking.


What should I bring to the event?

Photo ID is mandatory for entry into Queen's Park. Please also bring information or materials about your business to share with your MPP.

What's the refund policy?

Attendees can receive refunds up to 7 days before the event. Please contact kristen organiccouncil.ca with any refund inquiries, or submit a refund request through Eventbrite.
