Description

Come tour with us in comfort to some of Ontario's Underground Railroad destinations and settlements. Find out more on how African - American slaves journeyed to find freedom in Canada's province now know as Ontario. See and feel original artifacts such as farm equipment, building material and even shackles from that time period. View original school houses, churches, family cemeteries and living spaces of that era. Learn more about the Underground Railroad and the descendents of the original settlers who still live in the surrounding areas.

  • Uncle Tom's (Josiah Henson) Cabin - Dresden, Ontario
  • Buxton National Historical Site/Museum - Chatham/Kent, Ontario
  • Sandwhich Baptist Church (Slave Hideaway/Church) - Windsor, Ontario

Bus ride cost is $40.00 per person (Includes a barbeque style Hot Dog/Hamburger Lunch)

Museums and site costs are additional and you can choose to see all sites or pick and choose.

  • Uncle Tom's Cabin (optional) - $7.00 Adult, $6.00 Seniors/Students, $4.50 Child, Free Under Age 6, $20.00 Family (Includes a video presentation of Josiah Henson and his life, Freedom Gallery exhibits, Court Yard walking tour, Henson Family Cemetery, British Medthodist Episcopal Church, Josiah Henson House)
  • Buxton National Historic Site/Museum (Optional) - $5.00 per person (Includes a replica slave ship, artifacts, original slave shackles, 1850's log cabin, 1853 barn, 1861 school house, 1866 church and cemetery - Facility amenities: picnic ground, kids playground, basketball court, baseball diamond)
  • Sandwhich Baptist Church (Optional) - $5.00 per person, Free under age 12 (Includes a skit, tour of the church and it's original cellar and pulpit false floor where slaves hide from American slave chasers, historical background of the Windsor/Detroit area)

Entertainment as well as prize give aways during the bus ride

Bus departs John Polanyi Collegiate - east parking lot, 640 Lawrence Avenue West (just east of Allen Road/Lawrence West subway station) at 7:45am and returns back to Toronto by 9pm.
