Speaker Biographies :

Beth Potter - President & CEO, Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO)

As President & CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO), Beth Potter leads the advocacy efforts for the tourism industry – promoting the importance of tourism as an economic driver and job creator for Ontario – by fostering a collaborative relationship between business owners, tourism organizations and governments. Collectively, TIAO represents close to 200,000 businesses and close to 400,000 employees that are dedicated to promoting and operating the Province’s tourism infrastructure.

An involved leader, Beth routinely works in partnership with other organizations to advance the policy work that TIAO undertakes on behalf of the industry. These partnerships include the Council of the Great Lakes, and the World Travel & Tourism Council, the international organization that works to raise awareness of Travel & Tourism as one of the world’s largest economic sectors.

A recognized leader with more than 25 years of experience in the not-for-profit and tourism sectors, Beth has worked with a variety of boards, committees and volunteers across the tourism industry and from all walks of life. She carries a firm belief that volunteers make the world go ‘round, and has proudly served on many industry boards, including the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. She currently holds a board seat for the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Jason Rasevych – President Anishnawbe Business Professional Association

Jason Rasevych is an accomplished advisor, facilitator, negotiator, entrepreneur and economic development professional with over 15 years of experience working in various industries, economic development corporations, local government, and First Nation communities. He has a proven track record for success and has secured more than $150 million combined for capital projects and capacity building initiatives in his career. He is known as the leading mind behind many special projects for First Nations in the North, including the largest infrastructure investment in Ontario’s history with over $69 million to extend broadband fibre optics to 5 remote First Nations. He has also led in renewable energy infrastructure planning for micro-grids and mining, forestry and tourism strategic plans for First Nations. Jason is determined to assist advance the socio-economic position of First Nations and raise the quality of life of Anishnawbe peoples. In 2018 he was acknowledged as one of Canada’s top economic developers. In March of 2019 he co-founded the Anishnawbe Business Professional Association, non-profit, non-partisan organization that advocates for inclusion of First Nation business in the Northern Ontario economy.

Keith Simmonds - Vice President and General Manager, Great Wolf Lodge Niagara Falls

Keith Simmonds has enjoyed the opportunities offered by the tourism industry for the past 28 years.

He worked in the mountain resort industry in three wonderful locations in BC before moving as a family of four to Ontario for the amazing opportunity of opening Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls.

In addition to enjoying the benefits of working with the OCC, the opportunities of supporting and working with other industry partners and associations is a pivotal part of Keith’s, and the lodge’s, success.

Rocco Rossi - President and CEO, Ontario Chamber of Commerce

A successful entrepreneur and business executive, champion fundraiser, and dedicated public servant, Rocco Rossi joined the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) in 2018 as President and CEO.

Prior to joining the OCC, Rossi most recently served as President and CEO of Prostate Cancer Canada where he helped to advance the research, advocacy, education and awareness of the most common cancer in men.

Mr. Rossi also served as CEO of Heart and Stroke Foundation – one of Canada’s largest non-profit organizations – overseeing consecutive years of record fundraising combining for over $500 million in total and launching many new, life-saving initiatives.

Mr. Rossi has held senior positions at the Boston Consulting Group, TORSTAR, Labatt/Interbrew and MGI Software. He is a graduate of McGill and Princeton.
