About this event
OPEN AUDITIONS! Do you know a child who loves to sing and perform? Come have them audition with the Canadian Children's Opera Company and introduce them to the magic of opera through professional music, drama education, and performance opportunities.
Through opera, music and storytelling, the CCOC teaches our choristers about the world and the power of what we can achieve when we work as a team - it's a special expereince for the whole family!
2022/2023 SEASON ACTIVITIES
- Sing in one of our six choirs, with placement based on your musical and dramatic experiences, skills, interests, and age.
- Perform in an opera! The 2022/2023 season features the world premiere of a new opera for children, The Nightingale of a Thousand Songs by composer Serouj Kradjian and librettist Marjorie Chan.
- Experience weekly music and drama activities from professional conductors, pianists, and a drama coach.

No previous opera experience required. We welcome all young peope who enjoy singing, and are keen to develop their music, drama, and performance skills.
AUDITION PROCESS
Auditions with the CCOC are a chance for us to get to know your child and for our artistic team to see how they learn. It’s a relaxed process, so that your child feels as comfortable as possible and they can feel confident in their performance.
We’ll hear them sing, recite a short poem or monologue, do some basic music exercises, and talk to them about their interests. That way, we can offer your child a place in an appropriate chorus to make sure they get the best start possible.
Auditions are in-person, free, 10 minutes long, and there is no obligation to join.
