Event Details

Healthy Minds Canada (HMC) in collaboration with various partners across Canada is hosting the 5th annual Open Minds Across Canada Mental Health Symposia from Sunday September 29th to Saturday October 5th, 2013. This is a day for members of the community to receive information and resources on mental health and addictions. The event is free and registration is recommended as seats are limited.

In Winnipeg, HMC and University of Manitoba are partnering to bring you the symposia on Monday September 30, 2013. Registrations begin at 6:30pm and presentations are from 7:00pm-8:30pm. 

The theme is "Using the power of the Internet in Mental Health" and presentations are as follows:

- "Effectiveness of a web-based treatment of insomnia" presented by Norah Vincent, Ph.D

- "Depression: Using the web to inform the public about treatment choices" presented by John Walker, Ph.D

The event will be Live Streamed on www.healthymindscanada.tv

Healthy Minds Canada

Healthy Minds Canada (HMC) is a national charitable organization that was founded in 1980 and since this time has funded close to 400 research projects at 42 universities and teaching hospitals across Canada.

In addition to funding the best mental health and addiction research in Canada, HMC hosts workshops and symposia across the country and publishes resources and tools to translate the outcomes of mental health and addiction research and deliver this valuable information to those who need it the most.
