Come out to celebrate the opening of our newest exhbit Ziibaaska'iganagooday. Also known as the jingle dress, Ziibaaska'iganagooday is a prayer dress with an accompanying dance that is used as medicine to bring healing to the sick. The origin of the jingle dress is attributed to the Ojibwe (Anishinaabeg) from the area now known as the Minnesota-Ontario border. Today, as the dress and dance have spread across Turtle Island, the Jingle Dress Dance has become popular at powwows and is a popular competition grouping. The jingle dress has grown to represent both healing and pride amongst Indigenous Peoples.
