Event description

Description

OpenMac and the Scientist Association at McMaster present: Open Access Evening.
Join us for an evening of discussion surrounding OpenAccess and Open Science. Dr. Rachel Harding will tells us about her open access science notebook where she reports in real time results regarding the study of Huntingtin disease. She will share with us how Open Science and Open data helps her further both her career and science in general. After that, Haley Kragness, PhD candidate at McMaster University and co-founder of OOOCanada, will walk us thorugh the steps of making our work open through self-archiving (as to comply with Canada's tri-agency open mandate). Finally, Dr. Devin Berg (Associate Proffesor and Program Director at the University of Wisconsin) will share with us his views on open and engineering, two concepts that are traditionally viewed as conflicting.

Schedule

5:00 - 6:00 pm Keynote Speaker (Dr Rachel Harding)
6:00 - 6:30 pm Self-archive-a-thon (Haley Kragness)
6:30 - 7:00 pm Open Engineering (Dr Devin Berg)
