Speaker: Ian Cookson, Oracle

Abstract

Review the evolution of RAC 12c in terms of key technical and architectural features and functions. Then consider where this will be leading us, to the Cloud and to on premise deployments.


Session 2

Topic: Data Storage Optimization

Speaker: Chas. Dye, Pure Storage

Abstract

The topic of the presentation will be focused on data storage optimization in database / multiple database environments along with disaster-recovery strategies in those environments.


About the Speakers

Ian Cookson, Oracle

Based now at Oracle HQ in California, Ian is the Product Manager for Oracle Clusterware, and the Oracle Liaison to the RAC SIG. His background is varied, after spending over 20 years in Consulting, plus many years with the RAC Pack.


Chas. Dye, Pure Storage

Chas. Dye has been an Oracle DBA and Database Architect for over 20 years.

He authored "Oracle Distributed Systems" and co-authored "Oracle Built-in Packages", both published by O'Reilly and Associates. He was personally responsible for the databases serving content to for web sites like eXcite.com and nike.com. In addition he served as a database architect at Yahoo! where he helped to design, test, and oversee the database disaster recovery infrastructure for Yahoo! properties around the globe.

Chas. is the Database Architect who is responsible for ensuring the success of customer database deployments including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgresSQL, or any other database environments.


Registration

Registration is free and required for security access. Registration and refreshments will begin at 5.30 pm and the first session at 6.30 pm. Please note that the building's elevators will be locked in the evening. You are advised to come before the first presentation begins, so that an Oracle staff or BCOUG volunteer can escort you up to the meeting venue.
