In partnership with the Prairie Organic Grain Initiative, the University of Manitoba will be offering the second in-person training session for the Organic Agronomy Training Program. The program is for agronomists who are interested in providing agronomic advice to organic and ecological farmers. Participants will be equipped with data-gathering and decision support tools, and be trained in the art and science of organic grain production. The tools provided will enable agronomists to take a systematic and comprehensive approach when working with farmer clients.
The program involves in-person meetings as well as ongoing support after the meetings. This support involves direct access to instructors and to other participants through social media, email updates, and phone calls. New participants are welcome to the Winter 2017 session.
* Please note that a third session has been added to the program for Fall 2017, dates and locations in each province TBA. The third session will be a continuation of the program, providing further training in organic agronomy.
The upcoming second training session will train agronomists on diagnostics, problem identification, and farm system co-design.
CEU credits pending.
