Event description
What is our collective vision for equitable economic development? How are we organizing for a fairer local economy?

About this Event

Join us for a full-day meeting to learn from and with organizers in neighbourhoods across Toronto. This is an opportunity to share agendas and strategies that make a material difference in the lives and livelihoods of historically excluded people. We hope to build solidarity across our issues, building power for more democratic local economies.

8:00 am - Registration opens: A light continental breakfast will be served.

8:45 am - Program starts.

12:30 pm - Lunch will be provided for all participants.

4:30 pm - Close.

The big themes for this day:

  • Democratizing the economy from the local to the global scale
  • Finding alignment in response to provincial and municipal budget and policy decisions
  • Community ownership of land and housing
  • Sustainability, equity, and public ownership: transit and retrofits
  • Tech, decent work and equitable development

Featured speaker:

Maritza Silva-Farrell, Executive Director of ALIGN, Beyond Amazon H2Q, an economic development platform for New York City.

To share any access needs or accommodations you may require to participate, please contact Melana Roberts at mroberts@powerlab.ca.
