Description

Orientation 2017 will welcome 3000 new students to the University of Saskatchewan and we need your help. Please volunteer today!

*Please do not sign up for multiple roles that occur at the same time!*

Small Group Leaders (8-3 pm)

You will have the biggest impact on Orientation 2017 as a Small Group Leader. You will lead a small group of incoming students throughout the day and share your knowledge about the university. We are looking for outgoing, friendly people who are looking for experience in leadership roles!

Set-Up Assistants (7-9 am)

You will be helping with the set-up of various stations around the Bowl and Bowl area, such as the student check-in and registration, Campus Expo, information stations, etc. Volunteers will be expected to assist with the movement and placement of tables, chairs, materials, and with various other duties as assigned. For this activity, you must be able to lift 12 kg (25 lbs).

Check-in and Walk-up Registration/Greeters (7:30-9 am)

You will be helping students check-in and register, while also handing out t-shirts. You will also be directing students to the appropriate check-in line and helping direct students to the Bowl for registration. Once registration is done, you will assist with the clean-up and take-down of check-in and registration stations.

Social Media Ambassadors (8-12 pm)

You will post Orientation-related videos and photos on your own public social media accounts.
* Must have Twitter, Instagram and/or Snapchat
* Must be comfortable approaching students and asking to take their picture

Food Volunteers (11:00-1:30 pm)

You will be helping set up for lunch, as well as helping serve. It is important to be able to work with a team and in a fast-paced environment.

Campus Expo Attendants (11-3:30 pm)

You will be assisting the various Campus Expo exhibitors, directing students to the Campus Expo and engaging students to visit the various exhibitors. We are looking for energetic volunteers who can encourage new students to learn about the various supports and services available to them, highlighted through the Campus Expo. Volunteers must be willing to approach and engage students!

Campus Tour Leaders (1-3 pm)

You will be leading groups of new students around Campus and helping them become familiar with the University. There will also be the option to go on “Find My Classes” tours. Volunteers must be very familiar with campus, and comfortable leading groups of people.

Take-Down Assistants (3:30-5 pm)

You will be helping with the take-down and clean-up of various stations around the Bowl and Bowl area, such as the student check-in and registration, Campus Expo, etc. Volunteers will be expected to assist with the movement and placement of tables, chairs, materials, and with various other duties as assigned. Must be able to lift 12kg (25 lbs).

As Needed (7-12 pm; 12-5 pm)

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to offer their support as needed throughout the day, to the various units taking part in Orientation 2017! For this role you must be open-minded and available to offer your support to an array of different activities. We can always use more volunteers, and appreciate your willingness to help us throughout the day as needed!

Supervisor- STAFF/FACULTY ONLY (7-12 pm; 12-5 pm)

This activity is reserved for staff and faculty only. Volunteers will be needed to supervise each of the booths set up in the Bowl, such as the check-in and registration stations, volunteer check-in and registration booths, as well as information stations, thus coordinating the student/alumni volunteers. We are looking for responsible and well-organized individuals, who are willing to help student make the best of their Orientation 2017 experience!
