Description

This year’s NAJC2017 Conference and Gala Dinner will take place at the beautiful, newly renovated Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, as part of Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations. Don't miss out on this informative and fun event! Buy your "Early Bird discount" tickets today.

The Conference will feature Japanese-Canadian community leaders, panelists and speakers from across the country discussing the Past (Finding a New Home: Postwar Relocation to the East), the Present (Being 'Japanese' and 'Canadian': How Both Identities Have Influenced my Life), and the Future (Keep Calm and Chat on!" Facilitating Clear and Effective Communication for Productive, Positive, and Respectful Inter-generational Relations); and New Immigrants to Japan (Challenges and Needs of New Immigrants: How Can the Community Provide Support). The M.C. for the Gala Dinner is Mutsumi Takahashi (CTV Montreal News) who has earned the title as the "Best Local Newscaster". The keynote speaker, Peter Shinkoda (TV and film actor) was born in Montreal and is living in LA, and is currently starring in a Netflex series. There will be live entertainment featuring a Taiko-Indigenous drumming collaboration, silent auction and much more! Topping off the evening will be some games of Jan-ken-po (rock-paper-scissors) to win some fabulous prizes!

Organized for the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) by the Ottawa Japanese Community Association (OJCA) and Ottawa Japanese Cultural Centre (OJCC).

CONFERENCE: Saturday Sept. 23, 12pm-5pm and Sunday Sept. 24, 9am-1:30pm (Douglas Cardinal Salon). Casual dress.
