Gamers - this is your time time to shine. Flare is excited to announce a new variation of a classic dating experience; we bring to you our Game & Date Night speed dating events! Spinning off on our Axe-throwing events, we are offering a more relaxed version of our themed events. We use the term 'relaxed' lightly as we know how competitive some players can get!

Speed Dating Ottawa Events!

Here’s the run down of our in-person speed dating Ottawa events: After purchasing a ticket to an event, you’ll receive a confirmation email from our team once it has been processed. Keep an eye out on your inbox! On the day of the speed dating event, prepare your best outfit and talking points (remember, first impressions are key). Be prepared to arrive at the venue 15 minutes before the speed dating event begins. Our host will be there to check you in and provide you with a scorecard when you arrive. Feel free to take the first quarter of the event to sit back, relax, and mingle with the other guests. We encourage you to grab a drink at the bar at this time too (a little liquid confidence or refreshing beverage never hurts).

Game & Date Night Speed Dating Ottawa Events!

The Level One Game Pub, just steps from Byward Market, is Ottawa's most popular game-night spot. They offer hundreds of games to play - both board & video versions - in a hip, relaxed, and casual atmosphere. On the menu is a variety of options ranging from espresso drinks, beer, inventive poutines, nachos, salads, vegan options, and much more to please any palate. This pub is full of positive vibes and is a place for all to enjoy!

This event will kick off with some fun ice breakers before leading into the speed dating portion and ending with a variety of games to continue the fun. Level One's Gift Wizards will lay out a variety of game options geared towards helping the group connect with one another. These games aren't limited to one-on-one scenarios; you can play as a group too. If bars aren't really your thing or you prefer an environment where alcohol doesn't feel as compulsory, then this event is for you. As with all Flare events, attendees are encouraged to keep the setting lighthearted and warm, so everyone feels the energy of the event.

So…how does Game & Date Night Speed Dating work?

Once everyone is in attendance and settled in, we like to start our Ottawa speed dating events with a little ice breaker game to warm everyone up. Perhaps a bit of trivia or a game of two truths and a lie? It’s important to us that no two events are alike and our team constantly tries new games and ice-breakers at every event.

After the ice breakers are finished, let’s start the speed dating! You’ll be seated in front of a potential match with 8 minutes to get to know one another. Feel free to talk about whatever you want, but we always recommend you keep it lighthearted and professional (don’t do anything we wouldn’t do). Once time is up, the ladies remain seated and the gents move down a spot and take a seat at the table of their next potential match.

Remember to take time at the start of each date to write down your dater’s name and, at the end, mark off if you felt it was a good match or not. Once you’ve spoken to everyone, that’s it, you’re done—great job! Make sure your scorecard is filled out correctly, hand it back to our host, and leave the rest to us.

After the speed dating portion is complete, a 'Game Wizard' will welcome the group and recommend games fit for getting to know one another and promote socializing. Feel free to stay for as little or as long as you'd like; there is no time limit. Kick back, relax, game, and maybe chat further with some of the other daters from our speed dating event. Within 48 hours you will hear back from us via email with exciting news about your potential matches from our speed dating event.
