Event description
The Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences (CNS) invites you to celebrate our 50th anniversary!

About this Event

In conjunction with the 2019 Western Homecoming, the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University is hosting "Our Brains, Our Future: 50 Years of CNS".

The event will consist of a Scientific Symposium and Gala Dinner to celebrate its 50-year Anniversary.

Scientific Symposium: Taking place on Friday, October 18th, 2019, the full-day symposium includes a series of moderated presentations by experts in the field, focusing on future directions of neuroscience in relation to imaging, cognition, translational research and medical education. The keynote address will be presented by Dr. Greg Cairncross, Director of the Charbonneau Institute at the University of Calgary.

Gala Dinner: The Gala Dinner will commence after the Symposium at approximately 6:30 p.m. Over the course of the dinner, we will recognize the incredible accomplishments of our faculty and alumni, and the Department’s contributions to the global health care community.

In addition, the Department is proud to announce that Dr. Roberta Bondar will be presenting the Keynote Address at the Gala Dinner. Dr. Bondar graduated from our neurology residency program in 1981 and is Canada’s first female astronaut and the world’s first neurologist in space (NASA Mission STS-42, January 1992). An inspiring leader and role model, Dr. Bondar is an Officer of the Order of Canada, appointee to the Order of Ontario and has been inducted into the International Women's Forum Hall of Fame and the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.
