Surviving Sleep Time:

Creating a Positive Sleep Routine in a Child Care Environment

This workshop will cover the following points regarding how to establish and maintain a positive sleep/rest routine for both the Educators and the children in your care. This will be an interactive and participatory discussion and learning session.

Topic to be covered:

Review of feedback on current challenges that are experienced during sleep/rest time.

Current research regarding the importance of sleep and the needs of infants and young children in a child care setting.

Re-thinking the transition to sleep/rest time. The importance of making this time a “ritual”.

What can you do when children have out grown their nap time.

How do you communicate with parents about the sleep/rest needs of their children?

Educator self-care and mindfulness during this daily routine.
