About this event

ABOUT

Our Homes, Our Communities is an art-based community engagement project exploring community members' ideas of what makes a home: a place of shelter, protection, refuge, comfort, family and community. Community members hereafter called “Artists in the making” draw co-relations of their idea of homes with location, land and physical structures, as we center those conversations on their sense and experiences of community/ies and belonging in Toronto. Participants will use recycled food boxes and other mixed media materials to create and re-create home and ideas of it. The final creations , will be part of a collective installation which will be exhibited at ArtworxTO Hub West .

MUSE Arts is an artist-run Community Arts Organization engaging communities meaningfully and actively in hands-on, high quality arts education integrated to issues of Social Justice , community and peace building.

ABOUT ArtworxTO

ArtworxTO: Toronto's Year of Public Art 2021–2022 is a year-long celebration of Toronto’s exceptional public art collection and the creative community behind it. Working closely with artists and Toronto’s arts institutions, ArtworxTO is delivering major public art projects and commissions, citywide, from fall 2021 to fall 2022. Supporting local artists and new artworks that reflect Toronto's diversity, ArtworxTO is creating more opportunities for Torontonians to engage with art in their everyday lives. This September, the City of Toronto invites the public to discover creativity and community–everywhere. Visit artworxTO.ca for full details.

HOME(LAND)’ s projects and programming invites the possibility of opening diasporic discourses for perspectives of reconciliation. Holding space where artists from diverse backgrounds and indigenous peoples are able to share their experiences and commonalities in relationship to the land, as it encompasses a deep sense of community, spirituality, and identity for both.
