Description

The decision to pursue graduate studies in Canada is an exciting prospect full of possibilities. However, many students who were successful in their home countries may have difficulties adjusting to a new country and an unfamiliar university setting. This interactive workshop will explore some of the challenges associated with navigating graduate studies in the Canadian context, and it will equip graduate students with real strategies to support their own mental health and well-being.

About Lionel Laroche: Over the past 18 years, Lionel has provided cross-cultural competency training and coaching services to more than 60,000 people in 17 countries. In particular, Lionel has presented to students, staff, and faculty at many universities in Canada, the US, and overseas. His presentations are described as informative, thought-provoking and practical; they are built on his own experience as a foreign student and an unprepared worker in industry, and the experiences of many of the people he has coached or trained over the years. Lionel is the author of more than 100 publications examining the impact of cultural differences on organizations. Lionel holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, and a "Diplôme d'ingénieur polytechnicien" from the École Polytechnique de Paris, France.
