Owning Your Space - Virtual Event
Event Information
About this event
A confidence building workshop! Join us to boost your self-confidence for your job search, networking, job interviews, and life in general. Learn to own your space and ace your next job interview!
We often think that succeeding in job searches and interviews comes down to our technical skills. However what employers really look for during interviews is our ability to communicate our expertise and seeing that we have confidence in our abilities!
We have designed a workshop that will include exercises and activities designed to build confidence and increase comfort in communication. Using improvisation and theatre techniques, participants will be encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and tap into their creativity to engage an audience, connect with strangers, and practice speaking in the moment.
This event is offered in partnership with the Arts Club Theatre Company with instructor Aidan Parker, a Vancouver-based actor, improvisor, writer, and educator with a BFA in screenwriting from the UBC’s Creative Writing Program. Aidan is also the lead instructor for the Arts Club Drama Club programs, where he directs and builds devised theatre with students from equity-seeking communities in the greater Vancouver area.
During this event you will :
- Practice speaking with confidence.
- Learn to use your own voices and speak from experience.
- Learn to present yourself in a positive way.
This event is targeted to refugees and refugee claimants with professional backgrounds residing in Canada. Spots are limited for this workshop, so please only sign up if you are 100% committed to attending.
