Description

Are you thinking of becoming involved in the women’s movement but are feeling overwhelmed?

Join Oxfam in Toronto on Tuesday May 30th and learn how to be an everyday activist!

We will be learning from Claire McWatt - Community Animator - handy tips and tricks for activism and a look at what small things can be done to contribute to community development.

Coffee and treats will be available for purchase at the event. Please RSVP.

About Claire McWatt
Claire has been a community advocate and youth mentor since high school. She spent five years with the Toronto Youth Cabinet, including two as Chair, fighting for a more equitable and accessible city. She has developed civic engagement workshops on subjects including deputations and the municipal budget process, which she facilitates to help empower communities to engage with local government. She continues to volunteer with youth and peer mentorship initiatives, and was one of the founding members of Women in Toronto Politics. Through her work at Volunteer Toronto, Claire led the Grassroots Growth Project, creating capacity-building resources and programming for grassroots organizations, local causes, and advocacy campaigns across Ontario. Today Claire works for the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, developing equity outreach initiatives and redesigning the Tax Preparation Assistance program, which helps those in need file returns in a safe and supportive environment. Claire is a a casual political contributor to CBC Radio, focused on women and youth in City Planning and Policy
