The live lecture took place on April 3, 2012

Join Rick Celebrini as he presents the findings of his recently completed doctoral research investigating the effects of a novel movement strategy in reducing biomechanical risk factors for ACL injury in young female soccer players. The movement strategy provides a simple and practical means of modifying high-risk movements for ACL injury such as side-cutting and single-leg landing in a field-based team setting. The lecture will also describe the application of this strategy in the treatment of common clinical conditions such as lumbo-pelvic-hip dysfunction and long standing groin pain.

Rick Celebrini is a sports and orthopedic physiotherapist, having graduated from UBC in 1992. He has been a therapist and consultant with various national and professional teams and is currently a consultant with the Vancouver Whitecaps Soccer team, Phoenix Suns basketball team, Seattle Seahawks Football team, and the NHL Players Association. He has been to three Olympic games as a physiotherapist and the Pan-Am games as an athlete. Rick was Manager of Medical Services and the Chief Therapist for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. He has just successfully defended his PhD dissertation within the faculty of rehabilitation sciences at UBC. His research focus is sports injury prevention in general and ACL prevention specifically.
