Course Description

The thorax forms the largest region of the spine and trunk and is essential for respiration while ensuring effective transfer of loads for optimal whole body function and performance. There are multiple mechanisms by which a dysfunctional thorax, whether painful or painfree, can be "the primary driver" for pain and problems anywhere from your head to your toes - in fact, the thoracic rings may be the missing link to your patient's recovery and limited performance.

Come be inspired by PABC's "Lady of the Rings", Linda-Joy (LJ) Lee, as she provides a window into her more than a decade long journey with the thorax - from clinical observations, personal experiences, and a PhD, to the collaborative work of The Integrated Systems Model (ISM, Lee & Lee). LJ's innovative "Thoracic Ring Approach" highlights the importance of optimal thoracic "ring" function to whole body performance. After this lecture you will appreciate how a dysfunctional thoracic ring can drive conditions as diverse as groin pain/ hip impingement, achilles tendinopathy, neck pain, lumbopelvic pain, and shoulder problems.
