About this event

Course Description:

This two-day course is designed to educate participants on proper technique of the fundamental movements in Fitness Athlete programming. Learn coaching, analysis, and breakdowns of the squat, deadlift, push, pull, and basic olympic lifts. Through the use of multiple models, the instructors will cover each movement beginning with proper performance and then highlighting commonly seen mistakes.

Students will learn how to correct these common mistakes through coaching, and as needed through breaking down the movement to identify relevant physical impairments and addressing these through targeted mobility and stability exercises.

Course Objectives

●Understand the current state of functional fitness training programs

●Why functional loaded movements matter to all populations

●Understand concepts of tissue capacity and load management

●Understand the foundational complex movements commonly found in functional fitness training programs

●Develop a framework for analyzing, assessing, and correcting complex movement patterns

●Develop strategies for coaching & correcting movement efficiency

●Program accessory movements based on determined limitations

DAY TWO

Q&A - Key current topics

The Instructor:

Zach Long

Dr. Zach Long is a physical therapist in Charlotte, North Carolina and runs an industry leading fitness website “The Barbell Physio” where he is a trusted resource to thousands of athletes, coaches, and health care professionals across the United States and beyond. Additionally, Zach teaches with the Institute of Clinical Excellence in their “Fitness Athlete” division where he helps medical professionals better understand the needs of CrossFitters, power lifters, and weightlifters. Zach is a Board Certified Sports Certified Specialist, Level One CrossFit Trainer, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, and certified SFMA practitioner.
