Satellite Sites

What is a Satellite Site?

A location to which course participants would go to for the day on Sept 29 and 30, 2018 to attend the course “Musculoskeletal Assessment & Management of the Child with Cerebral Palsy” instructed by Stacey Miller and Maria Juricic. These course participants will interact in real-time with the course presenters through video-conferencing technology and will be able to see and hear all which goes on in the Host Site.

Why should I attend the course at a Satellite Site?

The advantages to the Satellite Sites are that the course cost is less and you get the same real-time course but in a venue which is closer to your home.

Satellite Site attendees can expect to be greeted by a host who will be on site for the duration of the 2-day course to answer any logistical questions. Attendees will interact in real-time with the two presenters located in Victoria (Host Site) and will be able to ask questions of the presenters at any time. The attendees will be at their respective sites from approximately 8:30am to 4:30pm both Saturday and Sunday Sept 29 and 30, 2018.

Satellite Site Registration

There will be four Satellite Sites. If you attend at a Satellite Site, you will be participating in the course which will be videoconferenced from the Host Site. The following Satellite Sites are available:

  1. Nelson - Kootenay Lake Hospital
  2. Vancouver - BC Women and Children's
  3. Prince George - UNBC Plinth Lab
  4. Kelowna - Kelowna General Hospital

To register for attendance at the host site in Victoria please find link below.

Course Description

This evidence-based, 2 day, interactive course will introduce the participant to the neuromusculoskeletal assessment and management of the child with cerebral palsy.  This will include a review of relevant literature as well as an opportunity to apply clinical reasoning through case examples and discussion.  Following completion of the course, participants can be expected to gain an understanding of:

  1. The assessment of the child with cerebral palsy across GMFCS levels, including visual gait analysis.
  2. Common musculoskeletal complications seen in the developing child with CP
  3. Orthopaedic, tone management, and physiotherapy strategies utilized in the management of CP.

This course is open to all related health professions.
