A specialized weekend course in Orthodontic Dental Hygiene.
Orthodontics Level I: Introductory Orthodontic course for the dental hygienist
Topics include: Orthodontic theory; Diagnosis of malocclusions, Treatment planning; Current orthodontic procedures including direct orthodontic bonding & bracket/band positioning with hands-on clinical practice on typodonts. Part I is required before proceeding to Part II.
Orthodontics Level II: Advanced Orthodontic course for the dental hygienist
Topics include: Treatment mechanics & wiring sequencing; Wire bending and fabrication of fixed lingual wires; Invisalign impression taking and bonding of attachments; Removal of braces (Deband protocol); Temporary anchorage devices. In Level II of this course, the students will have the opportunity to take Invisalign impressions, practice wire bending and fabricate fixed lingual retainers.
Level I is required before proceeding to Level II. Level II is a 2 day course (Saturday and Sunday).
