Canoe Instructional Session, Saturday, August 15th
8:45 am - 4:00 pm at Leddy Lake. Participants will learn how to canoe at Leddy Lake so they are prepared for the group paddle the next day. Lunch is provided. Participants must provide their own transport, canoe, paddles, lifejacket, bouyancy rope and bailing bucket.

Kayak Instructional Session, Saturday, August 15th
8:45 am - 4:00 pm Start the day at the Peace Regional Pool. Participants will learn essential beginner kayak skills for the group paddle the next day. Lunch is provided. If participants wish, they make take part in additional flat water training. Participants must provide their own transport, kayak, paddles and lifejacket.

Children 12 and under paddle and eat for free! Registered children must have a registered adult attending the Sunday group paddle with them.

Instructional Canoe & Kayak for Beginners on Saturday, August 15th

 First timers can get hands on training for canoe or kayak. Lunch is included in the registration.

Canoe training takes place from 8:45 am - 4:00 pm. Sign in at Leddy Lake, lunch provided. Participants must provide their own transportation, canoe, paddles, lifejacket, buoyancy rope and bailing bucket.

Kayak training takes place from 8:45 - 4:00 pm. Sign in at the Peace Regional Pool, lunch provided. If participants wish, they may take part in additional flat water practice time at Leddy Lake after lunch. Participants must provide their own transportation, kayak, paddles, lifejacket and bailing bucket.



 Sunday, August 16th, Group Paddle Options

Adventure Package #1: Shaftesbury Ferry to Peace River. 28 km, approximately 4.5 hours of paddling. Includes: Shuttle from Lower West Peace boat launch to Shaftsbury Ferry, lunch at Strong Creek Campgrounds and insurance.

Adventure Package #2: Strong Creek Campgrounds to Peace River. 13 km and approximately 2.5 hours of paddling. Includes: Shuttle from Lower West Peace boat launch, lunch at Strong Creek Campgrounds and insurance.

 

Overnight Adventure

Book a Saturday night stay at Peace Valley Guest Ranch or Peace River Cabins & Outdoors. Please contact these businesses to make arrangements for your overnight stay. Registration for the Paddle the Peace event is separate. 

 

Peace Valley Guest Ranch overnight stay includes:Jet boat shuttle, trail ride, steak dinner, breakfast, shuttle to Shaftesbury Ferry launch site. Call 1-780-332-7444 or 1-780-617-4270 to book your stay or for more info.

Canoe and Kayak Rentals

Paddlers are responsible for providing their own canoe, kayak and paddles. If you need to rent a canoe or kayak for instructional day or group paddle, please contact Peace River Cabins & Outdoors at 1-877-835-1277. Note that there is a limited supply of rentals available. 

 





A few things to keep in mind:

  • The exit point for this year’s paddle has changed. Exit point will be Lower West Peace Boat Launch.
  • No on site registrations will be taken on the day of the event. 
  • Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a leash at all times.
  • Alcohol and drugs are not permitted.
  • We're sorry, but there will be no registration refunds, even if the event is cancelled due to unsafe conditions. 
  •  The Paddle the Peace Action Committee may cancel the event at any time if they feel that it is unsafe for participants to paddle. This could be due to weather, low river, etc. If the event is cancelled, participants will be notified by phone at the number they provided.
  • Registrations must be received before August 7th and are taken on a first come, first served basis.
  • Waiver and consent forms must be signed on site before taking part in the paddle.
  • Participants must provide their own canoe, kayak and paddles for the group paddle and instructional day.
  • All participants MUST bring their own life jacket, hat, water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray and clothing that is appropriate for rain or shine.
  •  Event insurance requires that all participants have a lifejacket. If you do not have a life jacket, you cannot participate in the group paddle or instructional.
  • Registration deadline is August 7th, 2015.
