Description

This professional training course for physiotherapists and movement professions provides in-depth integration of pain science, innovative pain self-management techniques, yoga philosophy and yoga practices.

Participants will gain a solid foundational knowledge of pain, people in pain and pain care to support people in pain and those serving them. You’ll learn more about:

  • Pain anatomy, biology, physiology and psychology

  • How suffering impacts every aspect of our existence

  • How every aspect of our existence can be used to influence pain

  • And, how to use ‘moving with ease’ as both a pain education tool and analgesic

Daily movement practices and pain self-care skills acquisition will ready physiotherapists and movement professionals to begin integration of innovative techniques and principles into their clinical work, yoga and movement classes.

Dates: Friday, February 23 – Sunday, February 25, 2018

Times: noon to 7 pm Fri; 7:30 am – 4 pm on Sat & Sun

Location: Propel Physiotherapy, 1 Eva Rd., Suite 107, Etobicoke

Cost: $550 (early bird $450 before January 7, 2018)

About Neil Pearson

Neil Pearson is a skilled compassionate physical therapist, an engaging expert educator, and a leader in pain management in Canada. He is also an Adjunct Professor at UBC, yoga therapist, author, and faculty member in international yoga therapy training programs.

He is the fi­rst physical therapist to win the Excellence in Inter-Professional Pain Education Award from the Canadian Pain Society, and the founding Chair of the Canadian Physiotherapy Pain Science Division. He is a past Board member of Pain BC. In addition to his volunteer work, and offering workshops and pain science education through Canada and internationally, he has worked for the Doctors of British Columbia, teaching pain management to primary care MDs and specialists.
