Event description

Description

A free community event fostering understanding, support and awareness for those living with Parkinson's.

This event will bring those affected by Parkinson's disease (PD) together with friends, family, neighbours and the community to share a fun, enriching and stimulating experience. Many physical and cognitive symptoms of PD can be addressed by engaging in a creative process such as painting - wellness through the arts! No painting experience necessary. Everyone welcome (you do not to have Parkinson's to join us in this communty event).

This event also aims to help bring relief of some of the symptoms of PD. Some people with the disease "hide" out at home so we hope to encourage the participants to feel active and part of the community. Participants will also meet others affected with PD and hopefully make connections and friendships.

Painters will feel proud to produce a work of art to bring home - a 12 x 12 canvas representation of artist Iris Mes-Low "West Coast Wave". Canvases provided by Opus Art Supplies. Light refreshents provided by Tim Hortons at New West Skytrain.

Please register via Eventbrite.

This event is possible due to a New Westminster Neighbourhood Small Grant and Vancouver Foundation.

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

https://100braidststudios.com/

By Car: The studios are conveniently located just off of Hwy 1 on Braid St between Rousseau and Brunette. Parking is available in the front of the building and additional parking is available in the back of the building.

By Skytrain: Millenium Line: Braid St Station.
100 Braid St Studios is about a three minute walk across the street from the Braid St Skytrain station. The station is the major interchange with skytrain for many Coquitlam and New Westminster bus routes.

By Bus: Many Coquitlam and New Westminster bus routes meet at the Braid Station interchange and then it’s just a short walk to the Studios.

Accessibility: There are 7 steps to main entrance of Studio. There is a ramp located to left of main entrance for wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
