The Palliative Care & COVID-19+ Pandemic Series
This series delves into three elements of how COVID-19+ has impacted palliative care delivery: communication, acute care, and long-term care settings. You will learn practical application of palliative care delivery from practitioners on the frontline.

The COVID-19+ Pandemic places unique challenges on end-of-life care. Healthcare practitioners are using communication skills in different ways to work with patients, families, and each other. Dr. Katherine Kortes-Miller is an educator, researcher, and author who brings conversations around death and drying to the forefront.
In this interactive workshop, Dr. Kortes-Miller discusses the communication needs from patients, family, and healthcare providers to deliver and improve goals of care. This presentation also dives into the topic of compassion fatigue for healthcare staff and how we can use communication as an opportunity to take care of ourselves.

In this presentation, Dr. Wendy Kennette also discusses the process behind Pandemic Planning for palliative care. Dr. Kennette shares insights from her work in the research and planning before COVID-19 Pandemic came to the region, as well as the barriers and challenges which presented once cases began.
