Panel 1:(Re)conciliation as Peace
Event Information
About this Event
Issues of Indigenous sovereignty, racial justice, and social justice activism amassed global support in what might be considered a tipping point in 2020-21. In response, we are hosting a student panel for UFV students to present their work on the broad themes of peace, (re)conciliation and social justice. The goal of this forum is to create a space to discuss these contemporary social justice issues from multiple perspectives, in a variety of forms, and using a range of disciplinary lenses.
Dr. Michelle La Flamme and Dr. Anna Griffith will co-facilitate this event featuring student research projects from their IDS 300 course, Race, Space and Place and student research projects from the Peace and Conflict Studies at UFV. The forum will consist of two main panels organized around two central ideas and is open to all.
- (Re)Conciliation as Peace | 10:00-11:30am
- Anti-Racist Education as Social Justice | 1:00-2:30pm
This event is sponsored by the Peace and Reconciliation Centre at UFV.
