PANS (Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) is a condition that is estimated to affect 1/200 children, yet is rarely recognized and diagnosed. Children with this disorder suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, eating disorders, and many other behavioural problems that are caused by an autoimmune reaction to an infection. Treatment for this disorder is different than treating any of these symptoms alone because it must address the cause. The aim of this conference is to increase awareness, provide education, and give doctors and other care providers the tools they need to effectively diagnose and treat these children.

PANS Conference - Saskatoon 2019 is very excited to announce our line up of speakers who are top leaders in PANS/PANDAS/AE*. Dr. Susan Swedo, Dr. Margo Thienemann, and Dr. Mark Pasternack will present the latest information on PANS diagnosis, treatment, and research. There will be group discussions, updates on Canadian PANS clinics and initiatives, and opportunities to ask questions to our visiting experts.

* PANS - Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome

*PANDAS - Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Strep
