Parenting and Social Media

Participants in the 1.5 hour Parenting and Social Media workshop will learn the impact of social media on kids, highlighting both the positive and negative. Tips and guidelines will be provided so parents can make choices that will protect their kids while allowing them to enjoy the positive aspects of social media.

Most parents don't recognize the key to keeping their kids safe online starts with their own habits and behaviours. Jo and Joe will talk about the things parents accidentally do that contribute to the challenges their kids will have online. They'll cover ways to keep your kids safe that have nothing to do with settings and everything to do with an investment in their experience.

Since most kids have exposure to social media, whether through their own use or through the use of those around them, parents will be able to reinforce good choices at home and allow kids to feel more competent, supported, and confident in their social media use as they move through a digital world.
