Event description

Description

Please join us for a presentation by Safe Online about children and online technologies. SafeOnline will be presenting to intermediate students on Your Life Online at assemblies earlier in the day.

From the SafeOnline website:
Children and youth are involved in online technologies at earlier and earlier ages. Although they are quick adopters of new technologies, children and youth are still amateur users without life experience, developed moral codes and often without the guidance of their elders. We believe that parents are critical to helping young online users make good decisions. We will provide you with background information, practical ideas and tools, and research-based solutions. Topics include:

  • popular social media, games and apps
  • permanent digital reputations and their implications
  • online drama and cyber-abuse
  • sexting and online pornography
  • implications of excessive online use on social emotional health and development
  • parenting with technology
  • tips and tricks for staying safer online

Attendees will be provided links to SafeOnline's collection of educational sites for parents.

The brief Cameron Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Annual General Meeting following the presentation will provide a review of the PAC's activities, events, fundraising, and purchases for the school this year. We will also hold an election for the PAC executive for the 2018-2019 year. Contact chair@cameronpac.ca with any questions about the PAC or getting involved.
