About this Event

Participants must be able to attend both sessions in order to register

The quality and capacity building unit is now offering 2 part pedagogical trainings. Using the "Theory to Practice" framework participants are invited to learn about a topic, have time to apply that concept in their programs and come back to reflect on how it has influenced their practice.

Part 1: The environment is a teacher

Part 1- From the aesthetics of the space, to the type of furnishings and materials available, to the organization of time, the environment communicates a powerful message and contributes to shaping the actions that can be taken within it. (HDLH pg:20)

This session will help participants discover what messages they would like their program space to communicate and how to achieve that while meeting the needs and interests of the children. We will explore how to design indoor/outdoor learning environments that stimulate thinking, curiosity, creativity and engagement. Participants will then be challenged to look at their space with a new perspective.

Part 2-(May 05, 2020) Will bring participants back together to discuss how changing the environment has influenced their program. We will reflect on the behaviours of the children in your programs, the parents and how the educators may have changed with the environment.
