Part-time and bi-vocational ministry is a growing trend in the United Church. It is estimated that by 2030 more than 40% of calls and appointments will be less than full-time. With funding from the United Church Foundation, the Rev. Dr. Ross Bartlett is conducting the first large-scale investigation of this phenomenon in the United Church. Come explore cutting edge research and help shape policy recommendations for congregations, regions and the General Council.

Reception – Meet and Greet (on site)

Saturday, October 23rd 10:00 – 3:00 pm Workshop (on site & virtual)

During the workshop, Dr. Bartlett will outline the research findings in the study of part-time and bi-vocational ministry within the United Church. Participants will also be asked to help form responses to any issues, problems or opportunities identified, in order to inform national and regional structures.

Who should attend? Those of you in the role already – or those considering it, students, judiciary officials – everyone is welcome.

Organizer Atlantic School of Theology

Organizer of Part-Time and Bi-Vocational Ministry in the United Church

Leaders come in many forms. Atlantic School of Theology helps develop post-graduate students for ministry, as well as for meeting the theological and ethical challenges of today's world.

At AST, students are able to explore new avenues for theological education such as interfaith dialogue, which is becoming a major part of the societal context in which ministry and community leadership must now exercise its calling.

Our peaceful grounds are highly conducive to study. AST is located in the heart of the city's grand South End - the beautiful waterfront of the Northwest Arm is in our back yard, with the woodland Point Pleasant Park nearby.

AST is shaped by a tradition of cooperation and respect, going back 50 years, to create an open and welcoming environment.

The Atlantic School of Theology serves Christ’s mission by shaping effective and faithful ordained and lay leaders and understanding among communities of faith.
