Description

What is darkness like?

The creation narrative begins with the story of darkness. This darkness is sometimes described as chaos. This is partially illustrated in Exodus chapter 10:21, for three days darkness covered the earth. The message states, Moses stretched out his hand to the skies. Thick darkness descended on the land of Egypt for three days. Nobody could see anybody. For three days no one could so much as move. Except for the Israelites: they had light where they were living.” 10:22-23

“For three days no-one could move”, what intense fear, alarm and horror darkness can cause. It has the power to freeze and incapacitate. For the Egyptians it meant loss of relationship, no-one could see each other, complete and total isolation.

What is light like?

Genesis 1 says, then God breathed light into the world and decided that this was good. What was this light like for the Israelites, “…they had light where they were living.” Light does that, it allows us to live, breath, survive and thrive. It allows us to grow and glow and be all that Christ intended us to be.

I believe that this is what drove the passion and conviction of the founding fathers of The Christian & Missionary Alliance; that the good news of Jesus Christ destroys isolation and loneliness and his light comes to where we are living.

This seminar brings insight into role of men and women of The C&MA being conduits of light to the world.

Vince Vetro is the Missions Mobilizer for both the Central & Eastern Districts of the C&MA. He knows the struggle of starting new things and overcoming obstacles to bring the gospel to those in need.
