Event description

Description

Garlic mustard was brought to Ontario by European settlers as a garden herb to be used as a quick substitute for garlic in cooking. It has become an invasive species in our mature hardwood forests to the point that it will totally outcompete our native forest-floor plants. As part of our control program, we pull garlic mustard each spring to keep it from going to seed. We invite you to join us at Church Woods to pull some garlic mustard, and then we will show you how to make a great pesto from the stems and leaves.
