Event description

Description

Take a leisurely paddle down the river with us and see how the day unfolds. Depending on conditions, we will attempt to go into Boyd’s Creek which is part of the 113-acre Alexander Hope Smith Nature Reserve. With Dale as our nature guide, we will learn about local ecology and river health.

This event is suitable for people who are experienced paddlers with their own boat equipped to meet Transport Canada safety regulations. Life jackets are mandatory and must be worn. Everyone’s safety is a priority for our trip leader, Marilyn. Please bring your lunch, water/drink, raingear, hat and other items needed to enjoy your time on the river including your favourite sunscreen. Binoculars and cameras are encouraged but remember to waterproof them as you can expect things to get wet.

This trip goes rain or shine; however, in case of thunderstorm / lightning, the event will be cancelled.

Leaders: Marilyn Clark and Dale Leadbeater

PLEASE NOTE: The map generated by Eventbrite may NOT be 100% accurate because not all of our Nature Reserves have addresses that can be recognized. Detailed directions below, and the day of the event, be on the look out for Conservancy parking signs!

Directions: From Orillia, take Hwy 11 N to Simcoe County Rd 169 S in Washago. Follow Simcoe County Rd 169 S and turn left onto Riverleigh Dr. Turn left onto Poplar Lane. There is a parking area at the dead-end that gives you access to the river.
