Hear from Service Providers who work in the field to shed a light on the realities of sexual exploitation. Doors open at 6:15, event will get underway at 6:30.
Attendees will have an opportunity to listen to two presentations. Presenters will be speaking in separate, smaller rooms so please read the below descriptions for an idea of who you would like to see.

DECSA: In 1977, Distinctive Employment Counselling Services of Alberta (DECSA) emerged as a community based non-profit charitable organization that provided supports, services and programs for individuals with barriers to employment, education and entrepreneurship. Our current programs and services assist marginalized adults and youth across Alberta. DECSA’s presentation will focus on multiple barriers faced by individuals who have been sexually exploited and are trying to secure housing. Major barriers that will be discussed include the limitation of housing options due to poor credit, little or no rental history, income status and family size.

E4C: E4C Youth Housing Programs provides housing for youth aged 14 to 17 that face a number of barriers including sexual exploitation. This presentation will focus on how we use a Harm Reduction strategy to support youth experiencing sexual exploitation and how this strategy can help keep the community safe.

CEASE and AHS: The Center to End All Sexual Exploitation (CEASE) is a grassroot organization working in cooperation with community, government, law enforcement, and other groups to increase options for sexually exploited and trafficked persons. Our mission is to build bridges over trauma and poverty to create pathways out of exploitation by providing tools for sexually exploited and trafficked persons to heal and rebuild their lives. Presenting a case study of the barriers and triumphs of a sexually exploited person in her transition from homelessness to permanent supportive housing.
