Event Details

Progressing cavity pumping systems have emerged as a common form of artificial lift. System selection and operating practices play key roles in ensuring that a PCP system provides reliable and economical performance.

To assist operators implementing this technology, this comprehensive course focuses on understanding key equipment reliability theory, common industry run-life measures, and best practices for collecting and analyzing run-life data. This course is based on knowledge, information and experience gained through two major joint industry projects over the last 20 years.

This course also includes hands-on training with Run-Life Xplore (RLX), a software developed within a joint industry project for collection and analysis of PCP reliability data.

Audience

This course has been developed for engineers and other personnel who deal with the design and operation of downhole progressing cavity pumping systems. This includes field operators, completion and production technologists, and the staff of equipment manufacturers and vendors.  A comprehensive set of course notes is provided.

Topics

Topics covered include:

  • Data collection best practices
  • Overview of the PCP failure nomenclature document
  • Collecting data with RLX (e.g. manual and automated data entry)
  • Equipment reliability theory and other industry run-life measures
  • Data analysis best practices (e.g. benchmarking and DDAs)
  • Data analysis with RLX (e.g. generating plots)
